Over the past decade, the entire United States has watched the real estate industry struggle to move past the economic downturn. However, the last four years in Miami-Dade county have proven very fruitful and it’s likely that by the end of 2015, the county will beat their previous year’s sale’s record for a fifth consecutive year.
According to the Miami Herald, 12,857 homes have been sold in Miami-Dade county as of December 22. At the close of 2014, 13,521 single-family homes were sold in Miami-Dade county, meaning that the record will once again be surpassed if 665 homes are sold before the end of the year.
While this may sound like a lot, in December 2014 there were 1,250 sales, so it isn’t a stretch to say the county may once again surpass last year’s single-family home sales.
In addition to more homes being sold, the median price of those homes also increased from 2014. In 2015, the median price for single-family homes that have been sold thus far is at $274,900, which is a 12.2% increase from the 2014 median price, which was $255,000.
